2012 NHL Playoffs, Adam McQuaid Injury Update: Bruins' Defenseman Out For Game 1

Boston Bruins coach Claude Julien announced Wednesday that defenseman Adam McQuaid will not play in the team's Stanley Cup Playoff-opening game against the Washington Capitals on Thursday night.

Ironically, McQuaid originally injured himself on March 29 against the Capitals after being hit by Jason Chimera. McQuaid needed 18 stitches in his eye after the incident and missed the three subsequent games. He did return to the lineup on April 5, but the return was not for long after he told the trainers he didn't feel well enough to continue.

The Bruins also announced Wednesday that Nathan Horton will miss the entire 2012 NHL Playoffs due to a concussion suffered on Jan. 22.
