After 20 minutes of play in Toronto, the Boston Bruins and the Maple Leafs have both scored a goal a piece and are tied 1-1 at the Air Canada Centre.
Defenseman Carl Gunnarsson got the game started for the Maple Leafs after just three minutes, as he netted his third goal of the year past a reaching Tim Thomas to give Toronto the early 1-0 lead. Gunnarsson was assisted by a beautiful pass from Tim Connolly.
Although it took a while, the Bruins were able to equalize the score at one even as Jordan Caron scored his fifth goal of the year with a wrist shot that beat goal tender Jonas Gustavsson. Benoit Pouliot and Joe Corvo had assists on the play.
Through one, the B's are out shooting the Leafs 12-7, but have not been as fortunate off the faceoffs, winning only six of 14 chances. Tim Thomas has saved six of seven Toronto shots while Jonas Gustavsson has saved 11 of 12 shots from the B's.
