Event: Boston Bruins vs. Anaheim Ducks
Date/Time: Sunday, March 25, 2012 - 8 p.m. EDT.
Location: Honda Center (Capacity: 17,174), Anaheim, CA.
Broadcast Info: Sunday’s game between the Bruins and the Ducks will be broadcast live on NESN. The game can also be heard on 98.5 The Sports Hub, with Dave Goucher providing play-by-play, and Bob Beers providing analysis.
Last Time Out: In an almost must win situation, the Bruins were able to take a 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings last night in L.A. and spread the distance between themselves and the looming Ottawa Senators in their own Division.
Brad Marchand had a goal and an assist, while his line provided two of the four goals in the game for the Bruins. Also scoring for the B’s was Milan Lucic and Chris Kelly. Kelly almost earned the Gordie Howe hat trick, missing just an assist in that game. He fought in the first period against Trevor Lewis, and picked up the Bruins’ game winning goal in the third period.
Tim Thomas put up 40 saves in the winning effort.
Anaheim also picked up a win last time out against the St. Louis Blues, with a 4-3 victory on Wednesday.
After falling behind three different times in that game, the Ducks came back in the third period and scored two unanswered goals in the third period, courtesy of Devante Smith-Pelly and Jason Blake.
Storyline: This is the only time these two teams play each other this year, and it’s been a while since they have seen each other on the ice at all.
The last match up was December of last year, and the B’s fell 3-0 in Boston. The B’s generated 45 shots that game but couldn’t find the back of the net on any of them.
Both teams have a good game underneath them heading into tonight’s game though, and it will be interesting to see who can carry that momentum in Anaheim.
Players To Watch: Jonas Hiller was in net last time they played against each other, and he managed to outlast the soon-to-be Vezina Trophy Winner in that game. Add that to some motivation playing against the reigning Stanley Cup Champion team, and no doubt he will be on his game tonight.
Prediction: Last night was a big win for the B’s and, still being on the road, I think it did a lot for the team as a whole, as well as for their position in the standings. Expect them to come out and dominate in this game. Final Score: Bruins 5, Ducks 2.
