The Boston Bruins have added a former college defenseman to their minor league ranks.
According to New England Hockey Journal, 2010 NHL draft pick Zach Trotman has signed with the Bruins. He will report to the AHL Providence Bruins this weekend. While the Bruins haven't made an official announcement regarding the deal, the contract is expected to be a three year deal near the higher end of the entry level spectrum.
Trotman played defense this season for Lake Superior State. The junior had 11 goals and 10 assists in 40 games played. Lake Superior State's season ended on March 10th in the CCHA quarterfinals, when they lost to Western Michigan. Trotman is familiar with some of the Bruins system, as he participated in last summer's development camp.
