Rick Nash Trade Rumors: Bruins, Blue Jackets Have Talked, According To Sources

The most coveted NHL trade-bait for its Feb. 27 deadline is currently Columbus Blue Jackets forward Rick Nash, and apparently the Boston Bruins are interested in acquiring the goal-scorer, but the asking price isn't right.

According to ESPNBoston.com's Jimmy Murphy, the Bruins, who are one of just a handful of teams that were on Nash's trade-approval list, have spoken with the Blue Jackets but negotiations have started with goaltender Tuukka Rask and Boston isn't willing to part ways with him.

In his mailbag, Murphy offers a different deal:

If I was Chiarelli and wanted to make a run at Nash, I would offer David Krejci, Doug Hamilton and a first- or second-round pick. But that's just me -- it's not anything I've heard that has been offered.

Murphy also says he wouldn't be shocked if the Bruins make a run at left-winger Ray Whitney and/or his Phoenix Coyotes teammate Shane Doan.
