After a little bit of a slow start in the first period, both teams bounced back in the second to add excitement on the ice and add numbers to the scoreboard.
Winnipeg struck first less than two minutes into the second period, when Alexander Burmistrov wristed a shot past Tuukka Rask, using Zdeno Chara as a screen in the process.
The Jets continued to surge and came back and almost scored again four minutes later. However, a nice stop by Rask sent the Bruins back the other way in a 3-on-2 situation. Jordan Caron crashed into the zone and fired one past Ondrej Pavelec to tie the game 1-1.
But it was former Bruin forward Blake Wheeler that added an additional goal to the period that put the Jets up 2-1 with under five minutes to go in the second frame. Just seconds after his team came off the penalty kill, Wheeler wristed in his 11th goal of the season.
