The Bruins found their step late in the period, despite being down early 1-0. They came back with two goals to take a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission.
The game started with a jolt and Shawn Thornton asked Cam Janssen to dance at center ice just 2:07 into the game. The fight lasted a while, mostly due to Janssen telling refs to hold of on breaking them up multiple times. Neither of the men ended seemed to have the advantage, and it was eventually broken up with both benches stick tapping their teammates.
Devils had the first power play of the game after Johnny Boychuk picked up a delay of game with 17:22 left in the period. However, with14 seconds left on the power play, the Devils struck firs. Brad Marchand tried passing back to defenseman Adam McQuaid, but ended up turning it over and giving the Devils a 2-on-1 going the other way. Zach Parise brought it into the Bruins zone and passed it flawlessly to David Clarkson who skied it past Thomas for his 15th goal of the year.
But then the Bruins came back with a vengeance, and the Devils weren't the only ones with talent on the power play.
With 11:45 left in the period, Gregory Campbell picked up a goal after deflecting an Andrew Ference shot from the blueline. That tied the game at one a piece and gave the Bruins the step they needed to continue the rally.
Five minutes later, David Krejci found Nathan Horton back door with 6:43 left in the period, after Henrik Tallinder went to the box for delay of game.
The Bruins are 1-for-1 on the power play against the best penalty killing unit in the league.
