Bruins Vs. Devils Preview: TV/Radio Info, Time, Location And More

Event: Boston Bruins vs. New Jersey Devils
Date/Time: Wednesday, January 4, 2012 - 7:30 p.m. EDT.
Location: Prudential Center (Capacity: 17,625), Newark, NJ.
Broadcast Info: Wednesday's game between the Bruins and the Devils will be broadcast live on NBCSN. The game can also be heard on the 98.5 the Sports Hub Radio Network, with Dave Goucher providing play-by-play, and Bob Beers providing analysis.

Last Time Out: Tim Thomas and the Bruins faced the agony of defeat for just the fourth time in 25 games on Saturday, taking a 4-2 loss against the Dallas Stars. Milan Lucic and Tyler Seguin did both score, but it was in vain. Former Bruins forward Michael Ryder also scored, but this time it was for the other team.

Thomas put up 23 saves after letting up three goals in the first period. Saturday night’s game was only the second time this year Thomas has given up more than three goals in a single game.

The Devils were heartbroken as well, taking a 3-2 overtime loss against the Ottawa Senators on Monday. New Jersey took an early 2-0 lead in the second period, but gave up two goals in the third before finally allowing the game winner in overtime to Daniel Alfredsson.

The Devils have gone 10-3-1 since December 6, including notching three shootout wins and one overtime victory.

Storyline: Martin Broduer will get the start tonight against the Bruins and will try and get the Bruins monkey off his back. He is 0-3-1 in his last four starts against them. However, he has to go against either Thomas or Tuukka Rask tonight, both who have done remarkably well against the Devils in the recent past.

The last time these two teams faced each other was back on November 15, where the Bruins took a 4-3 win back in Boston.

Nick Palmieri scored twice in that game for the Devils, but the Bruins were able to boast four different goal scorers in that game, and Benoit Pouliot took the game winner with less than four minutes to go in the third period.

Players To Watch: The Bruins have two players that are currently holding a point streak going into tonight’s game. David Krejci has six points (2-4=6) in his last five games while teammate Dennis Seidenberg is holding his own with a three game point streak.

Seidenberg didn’t score his first goal of the season until December 23 against the Florida Panthers. He proceeded to score the game winning goal at Phoenix the following game, and tallied an assist against the Stars on Saturday.

Prediction: Both teams are in the hunt for a victory after falling in a bad effort in their last game, but I think the Bruins have the more consistent goaltender and will find a way to win their first game in 2012. Final Score: Bruins 3, Devils 1.
