Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara has been named a captain for the 2012 NHL All-Star game, the NHL announced on Tuesday, meaning that the Bruins' tallest skater will be responsible for picking one of the two All-Star teams.
For the second straight season, the NHL selected two captains -- Ottawa Senators forward Daniel Alfredsson will join Chara -- to draft players onto separate rosters which will then face each other. Last season, Eric Staal and Nicklas Lidstrom wore the "C".
Chara has seven goals and 20 assists for 27 points through 41 games. He has a plus-25 rating this season and leads the Bruins with 24:37 of ice time per game.
It's impossible to tell who Chara will draft to his team, but teammate Milan Lucic figures he knows a few players Chara won't draft.
