Tim Thomas will dress for the first time this preseason as the Boston Bruins host the New York Islanders at 7:00 p.m. EDT on Friday night at TD Garden. Friday's game won't be on TV, but will be streamed live on the Bruins' website, and the game can be heard on the radio on WBZ-FM 98.5 The Sports Hub.
Boston is coming off of a 2-1 overtime road loss to the Ottawa Senators in its preseason opener. Lane Macdermid's goal - the only one for the B's - came at the 7:01 mark in the second period and was assisted by Shawn Thornton and Adam McQuaid. The Bruins' lead was short lived, though, as Brian Lee scored at the 8:18 mark in the period, assisted by Nick Foligno and Peter Regin, to knot the score at 1-1. Mika Zibanejad scored at the 3:17 mark on assists from Lee and Foligno, giving the Senators a 2-1 victory.
In Friday's home preseason opener, the Bruins will dress a different bunch of players, with Vezina Trophy-winning goaltender Tim Thomas highlighting the bunch. Anton Khudobin is the other goalie that will dress on Friday.
Jamie Arniel, Patrice Bergeron, Zach Hamill, Alexander Khokhlachev, Jared Knight, David Krejci, Milan Lucic, Lane MacDermid, Brad Marchand, Daniel Paille, Rich Peverley and Benoit Pouliot are the forwards who will dress, per DJ Bean of WEEI.com. On defense, Matt Bartkowski, Johnny Boychuk, Zdeno Chara, Steve Kampfer, Zach McKelvie and Dennis Seidenberg will all dress, per Bean.
New York has not yet played a preseason game, with it's last game coming on Saturday, April 9, 2010 - a 7-4 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. The Islanders are coming off of a lackluster 30-39-13 season in which they finished fifth in the Atlantic Division and 14th overall in the Eastern Conference.
