NHL free agency starts at midnight on Friday morning, and the Bruins have some decisions to make.
Not many, to be sure, but some.
Michael Ryder and Tomas Kaberle are the only two members of the the team not named Mark Recchi that aren't under team control heading into the weekend, and while Peter Chiarelli is yet to sit down with Ryder's agent to talk shop, he's started to draw up some details with Kaberle's agent.
According to CSNNE.com, Chiarelli may not be prepared to bring Kaberle back, however. And that might be okay.
According to SBNation Bruins blog Stanley Cup of Chowder, there are quite a few cheaper options out there, and younger options at that. Among them are Christian Ehrhoff from Vancouver, Joni Pitkanen from Carolina and James Wisniewski from Montreal.
Keith Yandle is an additional option, but his rights are still owned by Phoenix, which is likely to try to retain the puck-mover's rights.
Kevin Bieksa, who was set to become a free agent on July 1st, has reportedly re-upped with Vancouver.
