Boston police estimated that a minimum of one million fans will line the city's streets on Saturday morning to watch the Boston Bruins championship parade, which begins at 11 a.m. at TD Garden and ends at Copley Square.
"It's going to be a great day for the city of Boston and a great day for the Boston Bruins organization," said Boston Police Superintendent William Evans at a news conference this afternoon, predicting that a million people will line the streets." (via Boston Globe)
And the Dallas Mavericks thought they had a lot of fans for their championship parade, but all they could muster was a small group of 500,000. After all, this is Boston - where sports supersede everyday life, every time.
Naturally, with a crowd that size, traffic delays are expected.
"We anticipate a bottleneck effect caused by the additional traffic and thus are urging alternate routes and public transportation," State Police said in a statement.
In terms of weather, the National Weather Service predicts temperatures in the upper 70s with only a small chance of rain.
