Immediately after eliminating the Tampa Bay Lightning with a 1-0 win in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Boston Bruins shared their thoughts on the dramatic series-clinching win (video from WEEI).
Nathan Horton scored the game-winning goal at 12:22 in the third period, sending Boston back to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1990. The Bruins last won the Cup in 1972 and have won five titles in franchise history.
Tim Thomas was outstanding in the win, recording his second shutout of the 2011 playoffs (his third career shutout in the postseason). Thomas had 24 saves in the victory and now has 560 saves on 603 shots (43 GA, 2.29 GAA).
Boston will face the Vancouver Canucks in Game 1 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals on Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m. EDT in Vancouver, BC. The two teams will meet again for Game 2 of the Cup Finals on Saturday at 8 p.m. EDT.
