Canadiens Vs. Bruins: Tim Thomas, Carey Price Drop The Gloves In Wild Second Period At TD Garden

Boston Bruins goalie Tim Thomas and Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price dropped the gloves and fought in a wild and chaotic second period at TD Garden.

Believe it or not, the goalie fight wasn’t the only scuffle of the period. Prior to the showdown between Thomas and Price, fans at TD Garden were treated to a good old fashion line brawl that wound up sending five Canadiens and six Bruins to the penalty box.

Price and Thomas were both penalized for leaving the crease (two minute minor) and for fighting (five minute major). Roman Hamrlik served the penalty for Price while Patrice Bergeron served the penalty for Thomas.

Montreal’s Brian Gionta, James Wisniewski, and Max Pacioretty all received two minute minors for roughing, with Gionta getting slapped with two roughing penalties for four minutes.

Boston’s Mark Recchi, Brad Marchand, Zdeno Chara and Steve Kampfer all received two minute minors for roughing in the skirmish as well. Marcahrd also drew a two minute minor for charging, which was served by Shawn Thornton.

Oh, and did I mention the scoring? That’s a big part of the fun, too, as the two teams combined for eight goals in the second period and four goals in, get this, one minute and 17 seconds. Boston currently leads Montreal, 7-5, with 8:21 to go in the third period.
