The sticks were silent in the first 15 minutes of action between the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday night from the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Gregory Campbell put an end to that.
The "Beantown" center (assisted by Daniel Paille and Shawn Thornton) wristed one in just near the three minute mark of the second period to put the visitors up one-zip.
The next few minutes drew a litany of penalties as Brad Marchand was pegged for two minutes after tripping Matt Niskanen, which then led to a major penalty when he began duking it out with Matt Niskanen, who was also penalized.
Boston blew the whistle yet again thanks to Zdeno Chara's interference call against James Neal.
That left them shorthanded, but Pittsburgh failed to capitalize and Benoit Pouliot (assisted by Rich Peverley) sank an 18-footer to make it a two-nothing game in favor of the Bruins heading into the third period.
Still anyone's game.
