Bruins Vs. Penguins First Period Score: Teams Tied At 0-0, Boston Leads In Shots

The Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins are scoreless through one period of play at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh.

Boston did a good job with possession and had the upper hand on shots in the first period with 11. The Penguins only managed six shots during the opening frame. Johnny Boychuk had three shots in the first period to lead Boston. Sidney Crosby had two of the six shots to lead the Penguins.

Both teams got on the power play in the first period. The Bruins were 0/2 while the Penguins were 0/1. Pascal Dupuis and Simon Despres picked up minor penalties for the Penguins. Dupuis held Zdeno Chara and Despres slashed Benoit Pouliot. Gregory Campbell had the lone Boston minor penalty for interfering with Steve Sullivan.
