It's the ol' one-two punch--the first and second place teams in the conference finally facing off against one another, and both teams are on a winning tear.
Since the return of captain Sidney Crosby, the Penguins have gone 5-1-1 and Crosby has already put up 12 points. Combine those numbers with an already dominate first place team, and this game becomes even bigger.
Tim Thomas will most likely be in net tonight, hoping to continue his win streak to 10 games. Thomas went 9-0-0 in the month of November, and, with plenty of rest the past couple of days, will try and come out big for his team in Pittsburgh. Thomas split his two games last year, giving up a total of seven goals in that span. Crosby had just one goal against him last year, and it was on the power play.
Meanwhile, the Bruins first line will have to continue their performance from the last few games, going against a tough Pittsburgh top line. David Krejci and Nathan Horton both had goals last game, and Milan Lucic scored the game prior to that.
The puck drops at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on NESN and aired on 98.5 The Sports Hub.
