BOSTON - David Krejci scored the only goal of the second period, giving the Boston Bruins a 2-1 lead over the rival Montreal Canadiens on Monday night at TD Garden.
Krejci's score came at 2:42 of the period, assisted by Andrew Ference, and was his sixth goal of the season. Benoit Pouliot scored the game's first goal at 12:13 of the opening period, assisted by Rich Peverley. Montreal answered with a goal from Tomas Plekanec at 13:26 of the first, assisted by Michael Cammalleri and Travis Moen.
Boston leads Montreal in the shots department, 20-18, through two period. Tim Thomas has 17 saves on the night while Carey Price has 19 saves for Montreal. There were three penalties in the second period - a two-minute minor for hooking by Nathan Horton, a two-minute penalty for interference on Josh Gorges and a four-minute double minor on Louis Leblanc.
