The second period was much more kind to the Bruins, and most specifically, forward Chris Kelly. Kelly netted both goals in the second period--one on the shorthand, and the other to give the Bruins the 3-2 lead.
He has a couple of people to thank though. On his first goal, Rich Peverley broke through the zone and fought his way to the front of the net with 12:32 left in the period. He put the puck on net, was pushed over, and Chris Kelly was there to pick up the rebound and put it into the net.
Then, with 3:34 left in the second, Pouliot laid the ground work for the second goal by Kelly. The puck cycled through the Jets zone and Pouliot found a wide open Kelly in the right circle who one-timed it into an open net to give the Bruins a 3-2 lead.
Both teams have put up 26 shots each, and the third period will be an important one. While the Jets have gone undefeated when Kane scores, the Bruins have also gone undefeated when Kelly scores.
The Bruins enter the third period with a 2:11 power play after Jets forward Eric Fehr was put away for four minutes with a hooking and unsportsmanlike penalties.
