NBC Sports is expanding its TV hockey coverage to the college game, which is good news for fans of Hockey East teams. NBC Sports group announced a 16-game schedule with the majority of  the games to be be aired on Friday nights.

Hockey East teams on TV this season will include Boston College, Vermont and Boston University, which will face Notre Dame in the inaugural broadcast on Dec. 31 against Notre Dame. Teams from the ECAC, CCHA, and WCHA are also part of the deal.

While not all Hockey East teams will be televised this season, the Hockey East tournament will be televised nationally by the NBC Sports Network. That's a nice carrot for fans of UMass, UMass-Lowell, Providence and other Hockey East schools in the SB Nation Boston region.
