Bruins Vs. Islanders: B's Off To Strong Three Goal Lead In New York

Coming into Saturday Night’s matchup with the Islanders, the Boston Bruins were riding high on an eight game win streak. After one period of hockey in New York, the Bruins don’t appear to have missed a beat. They lead the Islanders 3-0, after the first intermission.

Center Patrice Bergeron got it started for Boston in the seventh minute by scoring his fourth goal of the season off assists from Tyler Seguin and Brad Marchand.

Minutes later, Milan Jurcina of the Islanders set up a power play opportunity after he was sent to the box for holding. Forward Nathan Horton beat Rick DiPietro on the power play, knocking in his sixth goal of the season. Chris Kelly also got in on the action by knocking by knocking in his sixth goal of the season in the eighteenth minute.

The Bruins were able to execute thirteen shots on goalie Rick DiPietro with three goals while the Islanders have only managed two shots on Boston goalie Tim Thomas. With two periods to go, so far so good for the B’s.
