Bruins Vs. Lightning: Boston, Tampa Bay Scoreless After First Period

BOSTON - In a rematch of the Eastern Conference Finals from one year ago, the Boston Bruins are hosting the Tampa Bay Lightning in their second game of the 2011 regular season, and neither team has been able to find the back of the net after one period here at TD Garden.

Boston had 15 shots in the first period while holding Tampa Bay to nine in the first period. Both teams had three penalties in the opening 20 minutes, with all of which were minors for two minutes. Tim Thomas made a couple of terrific saves and finished the first half with nine saves while Mathieu Garon had 15 saves.

The B's controlled the tempo right from the start, keeping the pressure on the Lightning, who did not record a shot in the first ten minutes of play. Both teams leveled out in the final 10 minutes, but to no avail.
