Chicago's Bryan Bickell caused major headaches for the Bruins with just 3:39 left in the first period. After intercepting a pass from Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference in the neutral zone, Bickell skated in on Tim Thomas and slid the puck through his five-hole to give the Blackhawks a 1-0 lead going into the first intermission.
However, the game has provided entertainment on both ends.
For the first time this season, the Bruins went toe-to-toe with an opponent, this time, Gregory Campbell and Jamal Mayers had the honors. After Mayers had a few solid shots on Campbell, he fell to the ice.
Thomas stayed sharp in net and stopped 12-of 13 shots including late in the first period, when Patrick Kane did a fancy spin move but didn't find the back of the net.
