The Boston Bruins released nine players Friday afternoon, including a young player Coach Claude Julien singled out for great play post-game on Thursday.
Forwards Jared Knight and Craig Cunningham, and defenseman Ryan Button were returned to their junior teams. Knight had impressed many, including Bruins coach Claude Julien, during training camp. He played in Thursday evening's loss against the Florida Panthers, and was praised for his strong skating skills.
Defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk and Jeff Penner, and forwards Jordan Knackstedt, Lane MacDermid and Kirk MacDonald will all report to Providence. All five played in Providence last season.
Journeyman defenseman Joe Rullier was released from his tryout agreement with the Bruins, and will not report to Providence.
