Reports: Savard Playing First Game Since May Thursday Night Against Tampa Bay

ESPN Boston’s Joe McDonald is reporting that Boston Bruins forward Marc Savard will see ice time against the Tampa Bay Lightning Thursday evening in his first game action since May.

The ESPNBoston report says the Bruins have given the center medical clearance to play, after roughly a week of full-out practice with the team. It was unclear how much ice time Savard would see, and that was to be determined in a meeting between head coach Claude Julien and general manager Peter Chiarelli this afternoon.

According to NHL.com, Savard doesn’t care about the amount of ice time he sees during his first game back – he feels strong and just wants the chance to play again:

“Whether its 12, 15 or 25 (minutes), I want to get out there and play.”
