Nick Clancy injury: Boston College LB hurts upper body, out for game

Boston College's defensive anchor, Nick Clancy, is out for the rest of the game with an upper body injury.

Boston College Eagles linebacker linebacker Nick Clancy received an upper body injury in the Eagles’ game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and will not return to the game.

The loss of Clancy is a huge blow to the Eagles' upset chances. Clancy has 107 tackles on the season, which leads the team. Earlier in the game, Fighting Irish quarterback Everett Golson bulled his way through the linebacker for Notre Dame's first touchdown of the game, although no word has been released whether that play caused the injury.

At the time of Clancy's injury, the Eagles were still playing tough. Although Boston College currently trails Notre Dame 7-3, the Eagles are driving down the field. Boston College has struggled this season, with only one win against FBS opponents and a 2-7 record overall. A win against rival Notre Dame would be a big win for the Eagles, but they will need to pull off the upset without their best defensive player.
