Boston College vs. Maryland recap: Eagles finally have 'something positive'

Boston College was able to hold off the Maryland Terrapins for an unexpected victory.

The Boston College Eagles were able to pick up their second win of the year on Saturday, defeating the favored Maryland Terrapins 20-17 at Alumni Stadium.

It's been a rough year for Boston College (2-6, 1-4) football, but the Eagles found a way to pull off the upset against a Maryland (4-4, 2-2) team that's middle-of-the-pack in the ACC.

Even with the contest being very ugly by all accounts, the Eagles will gladly take the win and try to build off of the momentum as Brian Favat of BC Interruption points out:

Despite the ugliness of the game, very happy for the players for getting back in the win column. BC definitely needed something positive heading into the final 1/3 of the season. This victory has been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise dismal season.

It's incredible that Boston College was able to get the win considering the total lack of offense for most of the game. The Eagles finished the day with just eight rushing yards for 0.3 yards per carry and until their final drive, were 0-for-10 on third down conversations.

Next week, Boston College takes on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on the road.
