The preseason ACC Coaches Poll is out and Boston College is picked to finish last in the conference. The Eagles tied for last place in 2011-12 with a 4-12 conference record, and the conference's coaches don't see much improvement in year three of the Steve Donahue era. This is the first time the ACC has tabbed the coaches for a poll, with the traditional media poll set to be released later this week.
In an unexpected departure from the typical Duke-Carolina dominance, NC State was voted No. 1 by the coaches. The complete ACC rankings, per WEEI, below:
- North Carolina State (139 points, eight first-place votes)
- Duke (130 points, three first-place votes)
- North Carolina (124 points, one first-place vote)
- Miami (104)
- Florida State (103)
- Maryland (78)
- Virginia (68)
- Clemson (61)
- Georgia Tech (40)
- Virginia Tech / Wake Forest (32)
- Boston College (25)
The Eagles also did not place a member on the individual preseason lists, with the Wolfpack's C.J. Leslie voted as Preseason Player of the Year and his teammate Rodney Purvis voted as Preseason Freshman of the Year.
