SB Nation's Matthew Fairburn released his latest mock draft on Monday morning, and he is projecting New England to select West Virginina wide receiver Tavon Austin:
Although Wes Welker is again approaching free agency, a player like Tavon Austin shouldn't be viewed solely as his replacement. Instead, Austin should be looked at as an advanced version of Julian Edelman. Austin can be used in a variety of ways. He can line up outside or in the slot, line up in the backfield and play on special teams.
The Patriots could also target cornerbacks, as once again the secondary was a major weakness in 2012. Rutgers' Logan Ryan and Florida State's Xavier Rhodes could possibly be available at this spot.
