2012 U.S. Open Women's Final: Serena Williams Defeats Victoria Azarenka To Claim Title

Serena Williams won the 2012 U.S. Open in dramatic fashion on Sunday.

Williams defeated No. 1-ranked Victoria Azarenka, 6-2, 2-6, 7-5. Williams was two points away from defeat when she rallied to win the final four games of the last set to win the match.

The win at the U.S. Open continued Williams' hot streak since her shocking first-round exit at the French Open in May. Williams has also won at Wimbledon and a gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics since the French Open.

Williams has won four times at the U.S. Open (1999, 2002, 2008, 2012). Williams is also the first woman to hold the Wimbledon and U.S. Open titles in the same season since she held both titles during the 2002 season. Williams has 15 career Grand Slam titles.
