Wind and rain wreaked havoc on Saturday at the 2012 U.S. Open, but once play resumed Britain's Andy Murray continued his recent strong play by advancing to the men's final with a win over Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic.
Murray outlasted the elements and advanced 5-7, 6-2, 6-1, 7-6 (9) over Berdych in a rain-delayed match that took three hours and 58 minutes. Berdych committed a whopping 64 unforced errors to just 20 for Murray.
The 2012 Open is the first major championship since the 2004 French to not have Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal competing in the semifinals. It will be the fifth Grand Slam final appearance of Murray's career. Murray will face the winner of Saturday's second semifinal match between Novak Djokovic and David Ferrer.
