The UMass Minutemen will try to bounce back from their season-opening loss to the Connecticut Huskies on Saturday when they host the Indiana Hoosiers at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
It was a rough start last weekend for UMass' newly minted FBS program, as the Minutemen couldn't do anything offensively against UConn. The team only gained three yards on the ground despite having 24 attempts, and managed just 59 yards of total offense.
The rushing defense provided one bit of good news. While UMass allowed 147 rushing yards in the game, those came on 43 carries, an average of just 3.4 yards per carry for the Huskies.
Indiana isn't expected to contend for much in the Big Ten Conference this year, but did start the campaign on a positive note against the Indiana St. Sycamores, beating their in-state rivals 24-17.
Sophomore quarterback Tre Roberson looked solid in his 2012 debut, throwing for 280 yards and a touchdown on 26-of-36 passing. Wide receiver Shane Wynn was on the receiving end of six tosses, gaining 95 yards and finding the end zone once.
