The Boston College Eagles will looking to claim their first win of the 2012 college football season on Saturday afternoon against the Maine Black Bears at Alumni Stadium.
Boston College struggled defensively in its season opener against the Miami Hurricanes, losing 41-32 to its ACC counterparts despite out-gaining them, 537 yards to 415. True freshman running back Duke Johnson gashed the Eagles, rushing for 135 yards and a pair of touchdowns on just seven carries.
Perhaps the biggest issue, though, was turnovers, with Boston College giving the ball away three times.
On the positive side, quarterback Chase Rettig absolutely lit it up last weekend, throwing for 441 yards and two touchdowns on 32-of-51 passing. The junior was sensational and could be a player to watch going forward.
Saturday's matchup will be Maine's season debut. Last year, the Black Bears were very good in the Colonial Athletic Association, sporting a 6-2 record in conference and a 9-4 mark overall.
