SB Nation's NFL editor Joel Thorman released his preseason Power Rankings Tuesday, and the New England Patriots were ranked No. 3 overall. The Patriots were edged by the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants, who were slotted No. 1 and 2.
Here's what the Thorman had to say about New England:
3. New England Patriots (LW: 2): What is this, decade No. 2 for the Patriots being a top three team? So consistent. The floor for this team is the AFC Championship Game.
Overall, the Patriots were the highest-ranked AFC team, as the Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers and Houston Texans rounded out the top 5 in order.
The Patriots' Week 1 opponent, the Tennessee Titans, were ranked No. 21.
21. Tennessee Titans (LW: 20): If Chris Johnson isn't the old Chris Johnson this year it could be a long year in Tennessee.
