The Minutemen remain winless despite putting forth a spirited effort. UMass was leading 27-20 entering the final quarter, but couldn't hold off of Ohio, allowing 17 unanswered points before answering with a late touchdown.
On a positive note, quarterback Mike Wegzyn had his best game of the young season, completing 27-of-51 for 375 yards and four touchdowns.
Michael Cox also had a nice game for UMass, picking his way through the Ohio defense for 76 yards on 22 attempts.
The big difference in the end was the play of workhorse running back Beau Blankenship, who accrued 271 yards and two scores on 43 carries. The touchdowns came in the final period on 5- and 40-yard runs.
