Having lost four of the last five Ryder Cups, the United States team will look to get back on the winning side when the 2012 Ryder Cup begins this weekend at the Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois.
The United States team is captained by Davis Love III, and will once again be led by Tiger Woods. Woods will be making his seventh appearance, second on the team to Phil Mickelson, who will be making his ninth appearance. Vermont native Keegan Bradley will be making his first Ryder Cup appearance. Bradley qualified for the team by finishing fourth in Ryder Cup points.
If the United States is going to get back in the win column, they are going to have to defeat a talented European team. Jose Maria Olazabal will captain the European team, led by the No. 1 player in the world Rory McIlroy. McIlroy is one of four players on the European team currently ranked in the top five in the world. No. 3 Luke Donald, No. 4 Lee Westwood and No. 5 Justin Rose give the Eupopean team a very strong core.
The 2012 Ryder Cup will begin on Friday, September 28. Day 1 will feature four foursome matches in the morning session, and four fourball matches in the afternoon. Day 2 will be the same schedule as the first day, with the final day featuring 12 singles matches.
