Julian Edelman left the New England Patriots' Sunday night matchup with the Baltimore Ravens shortly after scoring a touchdown. His return is questionable.
The fourth-year receiver, who played quarterback at Kent State, hadn't scored a touchdown since his rookie season in 2009, but caught a seven-yarder to go ahead with a few seconds before the end of the first half. Edelman ran off the field into the locker room with team trainers immediately after the touchdown. It's unclear how he sustained the injury, as he was completely untouched on the play - perhaps something to do with an overzealous spike celebrating the touchdown.
Edelman is listed as a backup to Wes Welker on the depth chart and has been splitting snaps with the Pro Bowler. It's likely Welker will take all the team's snaps out of the slot if Edelman is unable to return, as Edelman is not listed as having an immediate backup on the depth chart.
