Andy Roddick was among those who advanced at the U.S. Open on Sunday. Roddick's previously announced retirement will have to wait as he reached the Round of 16 by way of a four-set win over Fabio Fognini (7-5, 7-6 (7-1), 4-6, 6-4).
The No. 2 seed, Novak Djokovic, defeated Julien Benneteau in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2. Djokovic is the defending U.S. Open champion. He'll be looking to make his third straight U.S. Open final round as the tournament continues.
No. 4 David Ferrer and No. 7 Juan Martin Del Potro also advanced on Sunday. Ferrer defeated Lleyton Hewitt 7-6 (11-9), 4-6, 6-3, 6-0. Del Potro defeated Leonardo Mayer, 6-3, 7-5, 7-6 (11-9).
