Red Sox Vs. Athletics Lineups: Jacoby Ellsbury Out

The Red Sox will face the Oakland Athletics, trying to avoid a six-game losing streak and their second straight road sweep. First pitch is at 4:05 p.m. EST with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.

After being pushed back yesterday by A.J. Griffin, Brett Anderson will make the start for the Athletics. He's been untouchable in his first couple starts back from injury, and with the Red Sox hitting the way they are of late, seems likely to continue that run.

In fact, if things weren't bad enough for the Sox already, they've just gotten worse. With Jacoby Ellsbury's wrist bothering him, the center fielder will sit, drawing Scott Podsednik into center field, Pedro Ciriaco into left, Mauro Gomez to third, and James Loney to first. All while Mike Aviles plays DH.

Yes, we've gone from bad to worse, when it didn't necessarily seem possible.
