Tim Bogar, Red Sox Bench Coach, To Interview For Astros Managerial Job

Boston Red Sox bench coach Tim Bogar will be interviewing with the Houston Astros for the club's vacant manager position, according to multiple reports.

The interview is to be held in the coming days and is expected to take place in the Tampa Bay area during the team's four-game series against the Rays. Houston executives will conduct the meeting.

It will be the second time he has interviewed with the Astros, as he met with the team prior to the 2011 season. Former Red Sox bench coach Brad Mills was ultimately given the job (he was fired on Aug. 18 after compiling a 39-82 record during the 2012 season). Bogar has also interviewed with the Toronto Blue Jays, as he was in the running for their open managerial position in 2010.

As of this time, Bogar declined to comment on the situation.

The Astros have already interviewed Tampa Bay bench coach Dave Martinez and Nationals third base coach Bo Porter. MLB Network analyst Larry Bowa also confirmed that he has interviewed for the position.
