The Boston Bruins have put four players on waivers -- center Trent Whitfield, forward Jamie Tardif, defenseman Garnet Exelby and center Christian Hanson - TSN's Bob McKenzie is reporting. The news comes just a day after the organization announced it was signing forward Tyler Seguin to a six-year extension worth about $34.5 million.
Whitfield appeared in only one game for the Bruins last season after two years with minor league Providence. Tardiff, also a teammate in Providence has never appeared in a NHL game but signed a two year deal with the Bruins following the 2009-'10 season. Exelby was a longtime starter for the Atlanta Thrashers who most recently played with Detroit minor league affiliate Grand Rapids. Hanson - son of "Slap Shot" start Dave Hanson - bounced around with Toronto and their minor league teams before signing a one-year deal with Boston in July.
