Patriots Vs. Saints Score Update: Pats Pull Ahead, 7-3, After Three

New England was unable to muster any offense in the first 35-plus minutes of Thursday night's preseason opener against the New Orleans Saints at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA, but Brian Hoyer and the Pats were able to put together an impressive 97-yard drive that led to the game's first touchdown. New England leads, 7-3, after three quarters.

The touchdown drive was capped off by a three-yard pass from Hoyer to rookie wideout Britt Davis at 9:45 of the third quarter. The drive lasted 14 plays and 5:21, and featured impressive rushes from Shane Vereen, who had 64 yards on 11 carries entering the fourth.

Ryan Mallett leads all Patriots quarterbacks with 85 yards on 7-of-14 passes, and after the touchdown drive, Hoyer has thrown for 45 yards on 8-of-15 passing.
