Patriots Cut Tackles Darrion Weems, Derek Dennis

The New England Patriots have released offensive tackles Darrion Weems and Derek Dennis on Friday as the team works to cut their roster down to 53 players by the 9 p.m. ET deadline.

Weems was signed on July 27 as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon. If Weems is not claimed off of waivers, he has a chance to be named to the Patriots' practice squad.

Dennis, who was signed on Aug. 2, is an undrafted free agent out of Temple who started four years for the Owls. Dennis confirmed his release from the team on Twitter on Friday, saying "Thank you to the organization and fans of New England it's been fun!!" Before joining the Patriots, Dennis spent time with the Miami Dolphins and was seen being released by the team on HBO's "Hard Knocks."
