With the deadline to cut rosters down to 53 fast approaching, the New England Patriots have released fullback Eric Kettani, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston.
FB Eric Kettani has been informed of his release, source says. Has practice squad eligibility.

The 25-year-old Kettani was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2009 before being called to active duty for the U.S. Navy for two years. He returned in 2011 to earn a practice squad spot with the Patriots. Soon after, he was recalled by the Navy and spent the year in various locations around the globe.
Earlier this summer, Kettani won an appeal to be taken off active-duty status and placed in the reserves. New England coach Bill Belichick assisted in his appeal, so it will come as no surprise if he lands on the practice squad again.
