The New England Revolution wasted no time welcoming former captain Shalrie Joseph back to Gillette Stadium on Wednesday night, going up 1-0 on Chivas USA in just the fourth minute. Saer Sene fired the opening salvo with his 10th goal of the season.
The move opened with a long pass from Chris Tierney on the left. Saer Sene's first touch in the box actually let him down, and gave Chivas defender Rauwshan McKenzie the chance to to try and get a clearing touch on it. McKenzie botched it, however, heading the ball right in front of Sene, who then tried an audacious volley from a tight angle that flashed across Dan Kennedy and nestled into the side netting for the lead.
With that goal, Saer Sene became the first New England Revolution player to hit double digit goals in one season since Taylor Twellman all the way back in 2007.
