U.S. Open Tennis 2012: Schedule, Preview, Draw, And More

Roger Federer is the top overall seed on the men's side of the 2012 U.S. Open. Serena Williams looks to continue her dominant summer as she is the fourth seed. Play begins on Monday, Aug. 27th.

The 2012 U.S. Open begins Monday, Aug. 27th at Flushing Meadows Park in New York City, and this time there will not be a rematch of the Wimbledon and Olympics finals between Roger Federer and Andy Murray. Federer is the top overall seed on the men's side, and Murray is third. Novak Djokovic looms on the other side of the draw as the second seed. Rafael Nadal is still suffering from the knee injury that kept him out of the Olympics, and was forced to withdraw.

John Isner leads the Americans with the ninth seed. Past champion Andy Roddick is seeded 20th, Mardy Fish is 23rd, while Sam Querrey is 27th.

Harvard graduate James Blake is unseeded and faces Lukas Lacko in the first round. Cape Cod, Mass. native Bobby Reynolds takes on fellow American Tim Smyczek.

Victoria Azarenka is the No. 1 seed for the women. Maria Sharapova is third. Wimbledon and Olympics champion Serena Williams is the fourth seed, as she looks to continue her dominant summer.

1:00 p.m., Arthur Ashe Stadium: Andy Murray vs. Alex Bogomolov, Jr.

9:00 p.m., Arhur Ashe Stadium: Roger Federer vs. Donald Young
