Red Sox Vs. Royals Lineups: David Ortiz Out One Day After Returning From DL

The Red Sox will look to secure at least a split of their four-game series against the Royals Saturday when they send Aaron Cook to the mound on short rest against Jeremy Guthrie. First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. EST with broadcasts on NESN and WEEI.

It's a brave new world for the Red Sox now that the deal sending Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, and Josh Beckett to Los Angeles for salary relief and prospects. The Sox and their fans will have to wait another couple months before they really start seeing the benefits from the trade, though. For now, they're a depleted baseball team just trying to play out the last 35-odd games.

That does offer some possibilities, though, if only to look at some of the kids. Jose Iglesias and Che-Hsuan Lin are up, and Pedro Ciriaco is still around. Let's see if the kids can get some hits.
