With the blockbuster deal between the Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers set to officially be processed on Saturday, the Red Sox have made a flurry of roster moves.
Aaron Cook will start Saturday night's game between the Red Sox and Royals, on just three days' rest. Cook started Tuesday's game against the Angels, pitching five innings while giving up five runs (four earned) on 11 hits. Cook did strike out four in the contest, giving him 11 for the season in 62 innings.
Josh Beckett was the scheduled starter, but Beckett will be a member of the Dodgers by the end of the day.
The Red Sox have also recalled outfielder Che-Hsuan Lin and shortstop Jose Iglesias from AAA Pawtucket. Lin appeared in six games earlier this year for the Red Sox, going 1-for-5 with two strikeouts. Through 107 games in AAA, Lin is batting a paltry .247/.325/.314, with two home runs and 14 stolen bases.
Iglesias, heralded for his glove, has spent the entire season in the minor leagues so far. The 22 year old Cuban shortstop is hitting .266/.318/.306 for Pawtucket through 88 games.
