After the two teams combined to score 28 points in the first half -- 25 of which came in the second quarter -- the scoring slowed down for the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles in the third quarter, and the Eagles took a 24-17 lead over the Pats into the final quarter of this Week 2 preseason bout on Monday night at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA.
Philadelphia scored the only touchdown of the period. Nick Foles found Clay Harbor for a three-yard touchdown pass, Harbor's second score of the game, with 11:06 to go in the quarter. The score ended am eight-play, 80 yard drive for the Eagles.
New England scored its only points of the frame on a preseason-best 55-yard field goal from Stephen Gostkowski, who also hit a 51-yard field goal in the first quarter, at the 4:17 mark. The Eagles answered with a field goal of their own, a 42-yard strike from Alex Henery, with 38 ticks remaining before the fourth.
The Eagles currently lead the Patriots, 21-17, with 11:41 to play in the final quarter.
