Patriots Vs. Eagles Score Update: Pats Lead, 3-0, After First Quarter

Once again, the New England Patriots were unable to break through to the end zone in the first quarter, but they did put three points on the board and led the Philadelphia Eagles, 3-0, after one quarter of play in Week 2 of the preseason at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA.

Stephen Gostkowski's 51-yard field goal with 6:15 to play in the quarter put the Patriots on top and completed a lengthy drive (11 plays, 56 yards, 4:45). New England racked up 102 total yards of offense in the quarter, 80 of which came through the air.

Ryan Mallett, who started in place of Tom Brady (did not dress for game), completed 7-of-13 passes for 80 yards, averaging 6.2 yards per throw.

Shane Vereen rushed for 20 yards on 10 carries and had three catches for 25 yards.

Michael Vick, who took a big hit from Jermaine Cunningham in the quarter and left the game, completed 2-of-4 passes for 23 yards for the Eagles. Vick went to the locker room where he had X-Rays on his ribs.
